Scott + Amy Fall Mini Session in Fayetteville, NC

On a Friday evening in November, Claire McLain Photography had a fall themed, mini session at Carvers Creek State Park with an amazing couple. The couple, Scott and Amy, had their dog, Tater, join in the fun. Everyone was adorned with matching red plaid - Amy wore a headband, Scott a flannel shirt, and Tater a bandana. The red plaid tied the group together and popped against the fall colors. This was one of my last sessions at Carvers Creek that captured the colorful fall foliage. I don't think there was a single bad photo from this session!

With Tater, the handsome golden retriever, joining in the fun, I made sure to find a spot away from other park goers where we could get some great photos while not having to keep Tater on a short leash. I am always for all members - fur babies and paws and hooves - being included in family photos, but to always keep dogs on leashes or close by in public spaces. This is for the safety of other people, park rules (which can jeopardize my photography permit if violated), and to keep them within the frame for photos. Tater was an easy pup to work with - he was always close to Amy and Scott, and would just let his leash trail behind him. For people who'd like their dogs to be able to freely roam the entire time, I suggest the client to look into private areas or to have their session at their home.

Carvers Creek State Park is a great spot for family photos with dogs because there is a great spot away from most park goers to take photos and the parking is nearby. With parking nearby, if the family wants to take photos without the dog, they are able to put them in the car (of course A/C or heat going as needed) and keep an eye on them while we finish photos. Allowing the best and most relaxed scenario for family photos with dogs!

Photos were shot on the Canon R6 with a 50 mm lens. The sky was clear and bright. Photos were taken 45 minutes before sunset. A permit is required for this location.
